Good day, Dash Nation!

Hopefully you are well.

I would just like to make a short statement about recent events, and then drop the subject and get back to work helping to build digital cash. For those who are not aware, I am referring to the establishment of a new Dash Discord, and my open disagreements with the team responsible for it. As I am always completely honest (sometimes to a fault, lol), I need to tell you why I reacted the way I did.

On Sunday, it started like any other day. I was looking forward to doing my moderation duties and checking out the conversation on the various Dash Forums. Then I saw a curious post from a user on Dash Nation on Discord stating that it was weird that there was two Dash Discords. This was the first I’d heard of this, and after some digging, I managed to get an invite to this Discord. Upon joining, I was made aware of who the overseers of this Discord are, and what types of comments were being made. I’m not going to rehash that part, but it was frankly shocking to me, and very upsetting.

Please note, I am not upset that this Discord exists. That is important to state. I’m all for decentralization. There are a lot of people in the world and we want to attract them all to digital cash. So, we are going to need many communications channels. I think it’s great that we are expanding. However, the way that it was handled was secretive, and I would have preferred it if the creators of that Discord would have been straight-up with me and said “You know what, we don’t like how you run this place, we are going to start another one and see how it goes”. Then, they could have quit their positions on Dash Nation on Discord amicably, and none of this drama would have happened. I was shocked, and that’s why I reacted the way I did.

There are still some fundamental disagreements between myself and the leaders of this new Discord, but I will no longer speak of it unless provoked. You have my word on that.

For my part, I’m going to go back to concentrating on doing my work, maintaining a premier environment for fair and respectful communication and collaboration on Dash Nation on Discord, and performing my moderation duties that the network has entrusted me with. I’m proud of the work that Dash Nation is doing, the results speak for themselves, and the new moderator hires have been very beneficial to the team.

I wish the leaders of the new Discord well, and you now have a choice. They are different styles of environments, and you are now free to pick whichever one suits your needs better. Choice is good!

Let’s move on with this new reality. The good thing is, it’s not a split because we disagree about the way forward with Dash, that aspect remains as strong as ever. Let’s pick up where we left off on Saturday. Dash FTW!

Onwards and upwards,
